About a month ago I attended Bloggy Boot Camp a/k/a BBC or as to non-bloggers...a blog conference. It was put on by Tiffany and Fran, the ladies behind The SITSgirls.

I would say before-hand if I had to pick one word, it would be terrified.

Absolutely terrified.

I was so out of my comfort zone, I didn't even know what to do with myself. I decided I would go to the Friday night cocktail hour with Collective Bias. I went for the purpose of meeting a few people the day BEFORE the big day, so that way the next day of the actual conference I wouldn't be so freaked out of my mind. And let me just tell you that it helped. Big time. I am so glad I went Friday night. It helped me so much in preparing for Saturday.

 photo CB_zps30977e4a.jpg

I was hoping that Chelsea and Kenzie would be there and they were. I was so glad to know them, even though I didn't really KNOW them. Ya know? It's weird this little blog community of ours. You feel like you know a person through their blog or twitter, even though you have never actually met face to face. Well, that's how I felt about these two lovelies.

 photo IMG_7673_zps226ad4c1.jpg

I was so happy to finally meet them both in person! And let me tell you, they are both just as lovely and beautiful in person as they each are on their blogs!

The reason I was so nervous about the whole thing is because I don't have nearly the following that other bloggers have. I don't have a niche that I blog about consistently. I just blog to blog. Mostly about me and my life and the people in it. I was there for three hours and got to meet a few others as well. I left there feeling really good, more confident and excited for the next day.

 photo IMG_7682_zpsb5a30839.jpg

The morning of the conference I woke up bright and early. Made sure Hailey was all set for the day with her auntie Kate and headed out the door with my big purse full of my blog conference necessities.

It was such a great day and flew by faster than anything. My brain was being pumped full of such wonderful knowledge and meeting such great ladies. Some of them I knew in real life, but most of them I did not. I was pleasantly surprised at how many Minnesota bloggers were actually in attendance. We would exchange business cards and I felt like I was making such fun and great connections with everyone I was meeting.

 photo IMG_7681_zps0fecda53.jpg

One things for sure. I didn't take nearly enough pictures. My mind was going a million miles per minute and I was trying to really listen and take everything in I was seeing and listening to. I filled pages and pages of my notebook with notes. I was really trying to stay off my phone and off social media and really be "present."

 photo Mirassou_zps9a135d1c.jpg

After the full day of speakers we had a wine tasting event held by the BBC Team and Mirassou. Such delicious wine. I might have had a couple few glasses of the Mascoto.

 photo IMG_7686_zpsdfdfd2eb.jpg

Such fun ladies and some new friends!!

 photo BBC3_zps492d8072.jpg

 photo BBC2_zps491aea79.jpg

 photo BBC1_zpsc2ddcdb4.jpg

Here are 3 of my favorite quotes throughout the day. I know there were tons more, but these 3 had the most impact on me.

"Surround yourself with people who are as excited for your success as you are." - @TiffanyRom

"Never, ever be afraid to excuse negative people from your life." - @TiffanyRom

"If it's not a Hell Yea, it's a No." - @DanielleSmithTV

I would have to say afterwards, if I had to pick one word, it would be...inspired. I just can't put it any other way. All the speakers were wonderful and gave really great advice and tips on everything. I've started implementing some of the stuff, but still have lots to work on. I am so glad I put my money, time and energy into attending this conference and if anyone is wondering if they should attend one. I have two words for you:

Do it!!!

Come connect with me:

Never, Ever, Ever

Will I enjoy doing dishes or loading/unloading the dishwasher...least favorite chore

Will I ever LOVE getting up at 5:30am in order to get to the gym by 6am

Do I feel like I get enough friend time. It's so hard to get together with crazy schedules/kids/husbands/boyfriends. I think I'm due for a night out!

Would I put gas in my car before the gas light comes on…my Husband and Dad yell at me for this

Will I hate having windows open on crisp days

Will I not want to eat all the Halloween candy

Will I not love naps...I've been taking them every weekend lately

So I've seen this done on several other blogs. I like the idea to highlight and mention any posts or articles that I see throughout the week that are helpful to me or inspire me or just plain make me laugh. Plus a shout-out to a fellow blogger or friend never hurts, right?

First off, I love Alissa over at Rags of Stitches. I love her weekly videos. I loved last weeks video about 3 Myths of Work/Life Balance and I equally love this weeks video where she shared her first 3 of 6 tips of how SHE balances it all. I can't wait for her other 3 tips next week.

As I've mentioned recently, I am going to BBC (Bloggy Boot Camp) next weekend. I scoured The SITSgirls website and read up on what to wear, what to expect, what to bring with you, etc.  THIS was my favorite and most informative read yet.

I also loved reading THIS post from Jess over at Wrangling Chaos on people being opinionated. I love her, too. She keeps it real.

I LOL'd after reading THIS post cause it's so dang true! How could WE, as their MOM, be annoying? Go read Mandy's take on it over at A Sorta Fairytale.

I thought Nicole's post about Marriage + Finance over on her blog Pharr Away had some great tips in it. Definitely things I need to remember.

Never Ever Ever,

Will I hate football season. I'm such an NFL girl. No college for me.

Will I NOT be a Vikings fan. No matter how awful they are. We bleed purple.

Will I NOT be obsessed with TV. It's my favorite hobby and my escape away from the real world.

Will I NOT be grateful for my DVR. No explanation needed.

Will I NOT ever own an iPhone. So user friendly and LOVE everything about it. Can't wait to upgrade to the new 5S soon.

Will I NOT ever LOVE my iPad. It's so convenient, fun and great for Hailey, too.

Will I hate getting a mani/pedi. Holla!

Happy Tuesday folks!

One month from today is Bloggy Boot Camp!

 photo minneapolispost_zpsebc1996b.png

Who is going? I know of a couple people that are going, but if you are on the fence about going, I have one word...Go!

You can be a newbie with me. I'm gonna be a conference blog first timer, too, so have no fear! We can brave the conference together. You won't be alone. Like I said, I am so excited to attend my first blog conference. If nothing else comes from this weekend (other than just attending, the free food and free wine, HOLLA!), I will be quite all right with that. BUT, I don't think that will happen.

Here are my goals for this blog conference:

1. Just Go. Be open to everything. The People. The events. The speakers. The overall experience of it all.
2. Take lots of notes and try and apply them to my life/blog.
3. Network. READ: Make friends and connections.
5. Have fun. What more could I want than that?!

Watch this 2 min video and tell me you don't want to join.

The Sunshine Award (2013)

The Sunshine Award (2013)
Wednesday, September 11, 2013
Read post
So instead of a depressing 9/11 post with pictures, videos, etc., I decided to keep it positive and complete my Sunshine Award. We are never going to forget what happened on 9/11 and no amount of pictures, etc. will make me feel any better about it. Plus, it's all we see online or on the news. So that's that. All I can say is God Bless America.

I was so honored when I read that Kayla from Kayla Layla nominated me for a Sunshine Award! As I said in THIS POST, I just can't get enough of her.

 photo sunshine-award_zpsd1df1b12.jpg

A Sunshine Award is given to bloggers whose posts brighten your day.

Here are the rules:

1. Include award logo in a post or on your blog (above).

2. Link to the person who nominated you.

3. Answer 10 questions about yourself.

4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award.

5. Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blogs letting them know they’ve been nominated.

Here are Kayla's Questions for her nominees and my answers:

1. If you were a Real Housewife, what would your tagline be? If you don't watch it, I'll give you an example of what mine would be. "There's nothing wrong with being classy, sassy, and a bit smart ass-y!"

So I have to be honest. I have never seen an episode of any of the RH's series. Never. Ever. So I had to do a little research of what a tag-line was all about. I thought Kelly Killoren-Bensimon's line from S2 & S3 of DC fit me perfectly.

"I've created a great life and I love living it."

I don't know who Kelly is and it's a little more generic, but I could totally see myself changing my blog line to that instead of what I have now.

2. What is your favorite boy band of all time?

If you know me, you know I love ALL things Boy Band. For realz. You name em, I love them. But, if I had to pick just one, it would be The Backstreet Boys. They were the epitome of my teenage years.

3. Which member of The Brady Bunch can you most relate to?

Probably Marsha Brady. We both  have the oldest child syndrome.

4. Will you be wearing white now that Labor Day has passed?

Yea. I'm not much of a rule follower with clothes and in Minnesota, if the weather is nice you wear it as long as you can, whether it be shorts, capris or dresses.

5. Nacho Cheese or Cooler Ranch Doritos?

I like both. Depends on my mood, but I usually prefer and have at home Nacho Cheese.

6. Describe something about yourself that you secretly love and wish others noticed more.

I don't know on this one. I have a lot of work to do on my post baby body, so it wouldn't be anything with that. The two things I normally get compliments on are my eyes and my dimple. That's pretty much it and that's totally fine by me.

7. Would you rather be deaf or blind?

Probably deaf. If I couldn't see my Hubs, Hailey, my family and friends, etc., I don't know what I would do.

8. Maury's Paternity Tests episodes or Out of Control Teens?

Both make me sad, but at least Paternity Tests is a brand newish life with potential. My heart breaks from seeing struggling people, especially teens.

9. If you could go back in time for 24 hours, where would you go and what would you do?

I would love to go back and re-live my wedding day. I know a lot of people would say their child's birth, but honestly, it was a painful couple days after she was born and although I'm so happy she is here and we are both healthy, I rather not re-live that pain of that day or time.

10. Who's sexier? Larry King or Steve Buscemi?

I would choose Steve Buscemi. I think one of his best traits is that he is funny, and that's one of my top must have traits. Also, I love him in the movie Armageddon. It's one of my all time favorite movies and I LOVE his character, Rockhound.

 photo SB_zps3d25829f.jpg

The 10 bloggers that I am nominating are:

1. Sarah from Dreaming About Baby
2. Sarah from Midwest Pillowtalk
3. Jenn from Squishy Cheeks & Cupcakes
4. Kelly from Four Kids, a mini-van and a lot of love
5. Gabriella from Ramblings of a Girl
6. Katie from This is My Life
7. Jen from Wonderfully Unkempt
8. Momma B from Momma B Blog
9. Kenzie from Life According to Kenz
10. Andrea from Love Is

And the 10 questions I want them to answer are:

1. What is your favorite boy band of all time? If you are not a boy band fan, let us know why.

2. What is your favorite vacation spot?

3. What is the hardest thing you've ever had to do?

4. Wine, beer, or mixed drinks? What kind?

5. What's one thing you've been putting off?

6. Sweet or salty snacks? What is it?

7. If you could go back in time for 24 hours, where would you go and what would you do?

8. What is your next big goal for yourself?

9. What is your favorite app on your phone (or website if you don’t have a smartphone) BESIDES the usual social media ones (i.e. Facebook, IG, Twitter)?

10. Where is your favorite place to shop? For yourself.

I look forward to hearing from all of you lovely ladies!!!

Today was Mother's Day. It was pretty low-key. We went to my parents house and had a nice lunch. MY Mom ended up going to my Gramdma's (her Mom's) house, so my Dad grilled for us and we just hung out for a bit. It was delish.

 photo IMG_5981_zps7107f06b.jpg

I also got an Up band, by Jawbone. If you've never heard of it before, go google it. Now.

I did Happy Hour at Pour Richards in Bloomington with the MN Blogger group. This was the HH that none of us took a picture at, so as a blogger says, if you didn't take a picture, it didn't happen, right. LOL.

Thursday, May 16, 2013

I got my hair done today. I splurged. I went to Rocco Altobelli's downtown MPLS. In other words read: $$$. I did spend WAY too much and will find a cheaper alternative, but it was a slight emergency. I NEEDED it. My hair was SO bad. I don't know why I let it get that bad, but I do. Not only did I get it cut, but I also got high/low lights put in. This was the first time in a LONG time that A) I got my hair colored of some sort (other than a box at home) and more importantly B) was in an actual salon other than Fantastic Sams or Great Clips. Yes, that's how I roll. Cheap, cheap and more cheap.

Today was the 101.3 KDWB Star Party. All the artists this year:

Ariana Grande;
MKTO;
Hot Chelle Rae;
Olly Murs;
Cher Lloyd;
Jason Derulo;
and Nelly

I had printed off a picture for Olly to sign for Hailey from when he was here back in January in the Skyroom. Remember when she climbed up on stage with him? Yea, well he remembered her and signed it and now it's in a frame in her room.

 photo Collage-StarParty_zpsda69724c.jpg

I invited my cousin, Nicole, to come along with me and hang out.

Of course me and my ladies, Katie and Falen, were there.

 photo Collage-girls_zps5ca7ba11.jpg

I got to meet Nelly this year.

 photo Collage-Nelly_zps58b52b24.jpg

And of course, me and my love.

This year was one of the best years yet!

Thursday, May 23, 2013

As mentioned in THIS post, we had our meeting with Bouari Clinic to start Wayne's weight loss endorsement for the radio station.

Thursday, May 30, 2013

Today I met up with some of my MN Blogger peeps at the new See's Candies that was opening in the Southdale Mall. Carolyn and Kelly put this event together. I brought Hailey with. I took this picture of Hailey and the group picture from Carolyn's blog. I was so busy with Hailey, that I didn't have any time to really enjoy myself, much less take pictures of anything.

 photo Collage-HaileyampBloggers_zpsa7ae125f.jpg

We got to try anything we wanted, they told us some history about the company, we got to go behind the counter and practice packaging AND they sent us home with a bag full of goodies. It was so fun to actually meet a lot of them in person for the first time, although I didn't get to talk to them because of course Hailey had me running after her the whole time.

 photo Collage-SeesCandy_zpse524db47.jpg

Oh well. There will always be more blogger meet-ups, right?

P.S. I feel like 2013 is flying by. Anyone else?

Day 5 for Sunday, May 5th: Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them? If you don't have blogger friends, talk about a real-life friend or even a family member.

Well, I am going to cheat and actually pick a group of blogger friends. I really can't pick just one, cause they are all really fantastic in their own way.

They are the Minnesota Bloggers!

If you are a Minnesota blogger and are NOT a part of this group, you are missing out. I recently foud and joined this group at the end of 2012, but have been more involved with them in the last month or so. They do happy hours and get togethers, etc. They have welcomed me into their group with open arms and hearts.

One of my favorite things about this group is how supportive they are of everyone, whether it be jobs or babies or families, or even struggles of any kind. They always know what to say.

Just want to say thanks ladies for being so great!!

Women Connect 2012. Spilling my guts.

Women Connect 2012. Spilling my guts.
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
Read post

I am linking up with Becky for Women Connect and let's just say I am getting real on the blog today. I usually try to not be too serious. I usually make this blog a fun place with outfit posts, new things I bought, things about my life and parenting and updates about my daughter. So bare with me today as I spill my guts.

A little about me and my life right now.

I'm a bit behind on life. Ok, "a bit" is an understatement. 2 weeks ago we got a call from our landlord who told us we need to be out of the house we are renting from her by January 15th.

Read: She is having boyfriend troubles and needs to move back into her house.

I get it. I do. But at the same time I just don't.

My Husband called me at work. Told me to shut my office door and told me about his conversation with said landlord lady.

My world crumbled.

60 days.

2 months.

Our life.

Our belongings.

4 dogs. Yes you read that right...4 dogs.

One toddler.

One Husband.

One marriage.

And Me.

I didn't plan on this. How could anyone plan to uproot their whole lives just out of the blue like this. Not us. Not through the holidays.

That was a very hard day. This hadn't even been on my radar. I'm a planner, most times to a fault. We had lived there since May 2011 and weren't planning on moving anytime soon. Life was going great. Right on track. Predictable. I LOVE predictable. And then wham. Out of blue we get hit with this curve ball. Oofta.

After taking the day to mourn and cry...and cry some more, we (being my Husband) concluded that we couldn't waste time feeling sorry for ourselves. We had to forge ahead into the unknown and start looking at our options. We turned to our awesome family and friends for support and prayers.

My Husband. He is a strong one that man. You know how in every relationship some things one person is great at and in other things the other is great at. Well, he's pretty much great at it all. He lifted me up and stayed so positive. He truly is my rock.

We talked about how it's not just us to think about. We have this little peanut:

Photobucket

And these 4 fur-babies.

Photobucket

And each other. And with each of these obstacles makes us that much stronger as individual people and as a couple.

And even though it was hard to be cheerful and thankful over this last holiday, we do have lots to be thankful for. Even in our crummy situation.

Our health.
Our jobs.
Our loving and supportive family.

Just to name a few.

And now after two weeks of searching, we have this to be thankful for.

Our NEW home.

DF21ECACED67492B9965AC739F0E2217

It's nothing huge and fancy, but it fits our family perfect and we couldn't be more excited.

We don't get the keys for another couple weeks, but are already busy packing and looking forward to getting into this new place, making it our home, putting up a tree and starting the new year off right.

I just want to say thank you for all your support.

I am dedicating this post today to the Turner family. If you are a part of the blogging (and twitter) community then you know what I am talking about. For those of you who are not, here is a brief update.

Julee Turner blogs at The Turner Channel. Over this last weekend she lost her husband, Matt, in a car accident. Today is his funeral. Not only has she lost her husband, best friend and love of life, but they have a beautiful 10 month old baby girl, Preslee, that she will have to go on raising without him.

Words cannot express how sad I am for Julee. I cannot even imagine. But I know that having Preslee will help her through this more than anything. She was their little angel when she was born and now they have a big angel watching over them.

You can read Julee’s post about Matt HERE.

I ask you to pray for Julee and Preslee as these days, weeks, months and years go on.

Happy Monday!

Here is all the random things swirling around in my head...

1. We purchased Hailey's new car seat a few weeks ago. We got the Evenflo Triumph 65 LX Seat in Cocoa Fizz.

Photobucket

It's rated great for safety and not as expensive as Britax. I know EVERYONE under the sun has a Britax, but we wanted to get something safe AND affordable because we need one for each vehicle. At first I felt guilty for not going with Britax, but then I was dismissed that thought and so far we love it and so does Hailey. Which in reality that's all that matters!

2. I am so behind on getting pictures organized and uploaded, getting posts written, together and done. I am slowly getting caught up on all my blogs I follow. I got behind for about 3 weeks and in the blog world that feels like 3 years! I feel so disconnected when I don't know what's happening with them! I did get the Google Reader app on my iPhone and love it. Thanks to Tara for the suggestion via Twitter. Now where ever I go I can keep up with it and not get behind. Now I just need to get caught up.

3. I photographed a small wedding on Saturday. It's their 2nd wedding to each other. Yes, that's right they are getting married again after getting divorced. It was so neat to be apart of and see their children and grandchildren participate in the day as well. It was very sweet.

4. I desperately need to go shopping and update my summer wardrobe. Last summer I was still pregnant and/or post pregnancy. Now, a year later, things just don't fit the same as they did beforehand (pre-pregnancy), 2 summers ago now. Your body does really change forever. Not in a bad way by any means, but it just changes.

5. The Hubs and I were in LA last weekend. It was a work trip for him, but it was mostly play to be honest. We had a great time and I will be posting about it soon (hopefully).

6. Now that we have the traveling bug, we are planning a trip to New York for the end of June. Neither one of us have ever been and we are so excited to go and explore the city with Hailey! It will also be over her first birthday. Wayne's Aunt Dana lives there and we are going to be there at the same time as Green Grandma. So we are SO excited!

7. I'm so pumped for the new season of the Bachelorette, which starts tonight.

Can not wait for this season to start!

8. I'm also excited to see all the different shows that are being renewed for more seasons.

One I though was going to for sure get cancelled, did not. Hart of Dixie!

They have cancelled Pan Am, though, which I am so sad about, but most of my shows are coming back, including the final season of Gossip Girl.

9. I had a great first Mothers Day and will be posting about that soon, too! I hope all you Mommies out there had a great day as well. Whether you are pregnant or are a Mommy to fur-baby(ies), that still counts in my book!!!!

10. I have not jumped on the Fifty Shades of Grey bandwagon as of yet. I know! Don't kill me! I am still getting through the Girl with the Dragon tattoo series and I love it, but I just don't have much time to read these days, so I am getting behind with books as well as movies as well as TV. Ugh. I know I will get to it all eventually. I just have to take it in stride.
