Day 18 for Saturday, May 18th: Tell a story from your childhood. Dig deep and try to be descriptive about what you remember and how you felt.

The one major event that sticks out to me is the day my sister, Keli Jo, passed away from SIDS. It was March 15th. It was a hot and sunny day. I was in the 6th grade. I remember playing with her that morning before school. I remember vividly getting off the bus and greeting my aunt Jamie. I thought it was weird that she was there after a school day in the middle of the week. Internally I was asking myself why, but didn't actually say anything.

I remember walking the block up to my house from the bus. I remember it being the longest walk of my life. I didn't want to run, for fear of the unknown, so I just kept walking. I knew something was up. The air had changed. I don't remember if Jamie was talking to me. I think my little brother was there too. But I just kept walking. I knew I wanted to get to my Mom and Dad as soon I could.

I remember walking in the door to our house and seeing all these people. I remember walking up the stairs of our split level house to even more people. I don't remember exactly who was all there. A handful of close family and friends. I know our pastor for sure.

I remember my parents sitting me down on the couch and telling me that Keli had died and that she was in heaven and she wasn't coming back and if I had any questions or wanted to say anything. I honestly don't remember what else they said or if I said anything. All's I remember is tears. Lots and lots of tears and crying. I remember the feeling of hopelessness that I wouldn't get to hold her again or kiss her again or even say goodbye. She was just 3 months old. Babies weren't supposed to die, only old people. In my brain that's what I was thinking and up until that point that was the only form of death I had experienced. I changed that day. My Mom changed that day. My Dad changed that day. My brother changed that day. My family as a whole changed that day.

Still until this day, I give both my parents credit for sticking together. They roughed out the hard times. Also, now that I have my own daughter, I can't imagine the amount of pain they each went through respectively. I don't know if I would be strong enough to get through it. I know why they did. For me and my brother. And I do believe that everything happens for a reason. Even death.

 photo IMG_2063_zps43c6db0f.jpg

I know that my Mom's birthday (12/17) will be a hard day for the rest of our lives. It was also her birthday. I also know that March 15th is a hard day as that is the day she passed. I know she would have turned 18 this past December and she would have graduated this year in June.

I also know that without that great loss, we wouldn't have Amie and Kate. I don't know what my life would have been like with Keli, but I do know what it is like with Amie & Kate and by God how blessed am I to have those two in my life.

Day 17 for Friday, May 17th: A favorite photo of yourself and why.

Well, I can't pick just one.

 photo Limo_zpsbfa403a8.jpg

This photo is from my wedding day and I know that is so cliche, but it truly was one of the best days of my life. We were getting ready to leave in the limo. I not only married my best friend, but it was the one day that my friends and family came together and in were in one place at one time. When does that ever happen? It truly was a magical day.

 photo Hails_zps6d65cbec.jpg

This second photo was from when I was actually meeting Hailey for the first time (24 hours post birth). Even though I was in rough shape and in lots of pain, I was so happy to be finally holding my baby girl.

Day 16 for Thursday, May 16th: Something difficult about your "lot in life" and how you're working to overcome it.

I know this may sound sorta cliche, but I don't think I have a so called "lot in life." Certainly I have had things happen in my life that have changed me or my perspective on life.

A few examples:

My sister, Keli Jo, dieing when I was in 6th grade;

Various other loved ones deaths;

My rocky relationship with my Dad growing up (which is a 1000% better than it has ever been);

The miscarriage I had back in the summer of 2010.

All my experiences have made me who I am today, but I wouldn't say it's my "lot in life." I love my life and feel that I am very lucky and fortunate to have it. I say my prayers every night with Hailey and we talk to God about all our blessings. I wouldn't change it for anything.

Day 14 for Tuesday, May 14th: Ten things that make you really happy.

Besides the obvious big things that make my everyday world go round (Wayne, Hailey, family, friends), here are 10 little things that make me happy.

1. Warm Chocolate Chip Cookies accompanied with a glass of cold milk.

 photo 4297585-plate-of-chocolate-chip-coo_zpsb6667a1e.jpg

2. A clean house. And by "clean" I don't mean dirty, I mean picked up and organized. It just feels nice to fall asleep AND wake up in a not so chaotic environment.

3. Coming home from work (or just about anywhere) and putting on comfy clothes. Being able to roam or lounge around the house in pajamas is the best.

4. Driving with the windows down, sun shining and music blaring.

5. A caramel cooler from Caribou.

 photo ar125012955549113_zpsfd9e3496.jpg

6. A hot shower. Nothing worse for me than a luke-warm or cold shower. That's a sure fire way of starting my day off bad.

7. Cuddles with the Hubs, daughter or pups.

8. Me time after Hailey's in bed at night. Either to catch-up on my tv shows or blog.

9. Getting a compliment on my photography.

10. A fresh manicure/pedicure. It always boosts my confidence and puts me in a good mood when my nails and/or toes look good.

What are some things that make you happy?

Day 13 for Monday, May 13th: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.

I want to publicly apologize to my daughter Hailey. I have and will continue to take endless pictures and videos of you to share with you as you get older. Some of them will be embarrassing to you, but I just can't help myself. I'm sorry, but not really sorry.

The One Thing I Miss About NOT Being A Parent

The One Thing I Miss About NOT Being A Parent

Read post
Well, I failed miserably at this whole blogging every day in May Challenge. Last week I was so busy at work, so the days were packed, and it was Star Party, so the nights were busy, too. I just really didn't have a whole lot of time for anything, and sadly this little blog is the first to get pushed to the bottom of the to do list.

But hopefully I'm back and I can get caught up and be more on top of it.

Welcome to my "Blog Every Day in May Challenge" that I am participating in going on over at Jenni's Story of My Life.

Day 12 for Sunday, May 12th: What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)

The one thing I miss from before being a parent can be summed up in one simple word:

SLEEP

 photo i-love-sleep_zpsadb0ac0c.jpg

I just miss the luxury of going to sleep and waking up when I feel like it. Plain and simple.

Is there something that you miss?

How would you sell yourself?

Well, I haven't blogged everyday in May, that's just the way life is. BUT I still plan on completing every blog topic. So here goes...

Day 10 for Friday, May 10th: Most embarrassing moment (s). Spill.

I don't get embarrassed easily. I figure everyone does stupid things or makes stupid mistakes. Oh well. You pick yourself up and keep moving. But there have been a few times in my past that I have done silly things that I still get made fun of about to this day. Here are 3 of them.

1. When I was in middle school, I was riding my bike with no hands and promptly rode into a mailbox. I can't explain it. It's not like I did it on purpose. It hurt like hell! My family still makes fun of me for it.

2. When I was in high school my Mom sent me to the grocery store for a head of lettuce and I came back with cabbage. Can you tell the difference? I was young. That's the only excuse I got. Again my family still makes fun of me for this.

 photo Collage_zps32d02d24.jpg

3. Also in high school, my Dad was watching an NFL game and I came in and asked who was winning... South Dakota (SD) or the other team? I don't even remember what the other team was, because they pointed out to me that SD stood for San Diego and that South Dakota doesn't even have a professional football team. Once again, they still make fun of me for it.

Have you ever done anything that your family still make fun of you for?

Minnesota House of Representatives voted 75 - 59 in favor of this bill.

I am so happy and hope to have Minnesota be the 12th state to adopt this law.

Now the Senate with vote on Monday, May 13th.

Day 8 for Wednesday, May 8th: A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.

 photo Life_zps4563134e.jpg

Obviously there is a time and place for everything. A time and place to be serious and a time and place to be silly. The key to life is knowing the difference.

Some people are just way too uptight. Slow down. Relax. Take a minute to breath and look around you and enjoy the scenery. Sometimes you need to enjoy life as it happens. In this day in age with all the technology at our fingertips and the internets, we can lose time with the real world. I know I'm guilty of it. Sometimes I worry what I'm missing out on with Twitter or Facebook or whatever it may be in that moment, but then I look at what I have...my Husband, my daughter, my family, my friends, my health, a roof over my head, food in my belly and a car to take me places.

And when it comes down to it, what else is there?

Day 7 for Tuesday, May 7th: The thing(s) you're most afraid of.

1. Death/Dying. I know it's cliche, but I am afraid of death and dying any way you want to look at it. I'm afraid of ME not being here on earth for my loved ones and I'm afraid of my loved ones not being here for ME.

2. Worms. Yes, I know it's silly and my Husband makes fun of me, but I hate worms. It's more of a phobia I think, but a fear, too.

3. No Air. As in like drowning. I hate that feeling of not being able to breath. Ugh.

 photo drowning_zps800e198f.jpg

4. Big bodies of water. Only god knows what's in it. Sharks and other giant animals/things.

5. Change. I like my predictable life. Plain and simple, just the way it is.

Day 6 for Monday, May 6th: If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'?

My full-time job in simple terms is "I am an attorney's assistant."

I complete various tasks under the supervision of a licensed attorney. I cannot give legal advice.

Some things I do:

Draft, prepare, review and revise pleadings and correspondence;

Prepare and coordinate all documents for trial;

Meet and communicate with attorneys, clients, law firms, courts and outside sources on a daily basis;

Assist attorney with all stages of cases from beginning to end;

Maintain and manage calendar and physical files on a daily basis; and

Manage documents into files from various sources.

Does it sound like a resume, well, I pretty much copied and pasted.

Hey, it's Monday and I have way to much to do to actually type these things out.

I also take pictures on the side. It's just word of mouth. Mostly family and friends.

Go visit my page HERE.

I need to get that caught up with new pictures, too!

My other job?

Is taking care of these two.

 photo 60015624-075_zps43ca0348.jpg

My world revolves around them.

For her eating, sleeping, learning, playing, talking, singing, dancing, going to school, hanging with family, play-dates with friends. I am basically her assistant and chauffeur. And I wouldn't have it any other way!

For him, it's more of a partnership and friendship, to support, to listen, to love, sometimes cook, sometimes clean.

That about wraps it up.

What do YOU do?

Day 5 for Sunday, May 5th: Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them? If you don't have blogger friends, talk about a real-life friend or even a family member.

Well, I am going to cheat and actually pick a group of blogger friends. I really can't pick just one, cause they are all really fantastic in their own way.

They are the Minnesota Bloggers!

If you are a Minnesota blogger and are NOT a part of this group, you are missing out. I recently foud and joined this group at the end of 2012, but have been more involved with them in the last month or so. They do happy hours and get togethers, etc. They have welcomed me into their group with open arms and hearts.

One of my favorite things about this group is how supportive they are of everyone, whether it be jobs or babies or families, or even struggles of any kind. They always know what to say.

Just want to say thanks ladies for being so great!!

Day 4 for Saturday, May 4th: Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it

 photo FaveQuote_zps4b3df7c9.jpg

I probably heard this quote before, but the first time it really meant anything to me was when I heard it at my church while attending a funeral for a high school acquaintance named Jimmy.

I say acquaintance, because he was not a friend, but a guy I had gone to grade school with and had known since we were little. We had been in each others classes over the years and while we were never friends, Jimmy was always very kind and funny.

He died unexpectedly and out of the blue.

No one saw it coming and everyone was devastated.

He had taken his own life.

He had committed suicide.

I sat there listening to all these wonderful people talk about him and share life stories that they had experienced with him. It was a very bitter sweet day as funerals usually are.

Either way it has stuck with me and whenever I think about this quote I think of Jimmy and vice versa. It's pretty self explanatory. I think it gets right to the point.

RIP Jimmy
