2016
Around
Thanksgiving 2016 our daughter, Hailey Jo, who was 5 years old at the
time had questioned us about Thanksgiving and why families get together
on Thanksgiving and from there a discussion had started about sick kids
and them not being able to go home to their families and have what we
label a "normal" holiday.
She
couldn't believe that children who were in the hospital didn't get to
go home for the holidays and be with their families. The thought of this
really affected her and so she thought that if she collected coloring
books and crayons to donate to the hospitals for the children that had
to stay there for the holidays, then that would help ease the sadness
just for a little bit. It could be a part of their Christmas gift. Hence
 The Hailey Project was founded.
That
year my Husband and her put out a video that we were going to start
collecting the coloring books and crayons to donate to the local
children's hospital. The outpouring of love and generosity was
astounding.
2017
As
holiday season approached in 2017 we asked Hailey if she wanted to
again collect coloring books and crayons and donate just like the
previous year. She said "Of course."
Again
the outpouring of love and generosity from all over the United States
had coloring books coming in from Minnesota, Florida, New York, Texas,
Arizona and Nevada.
We knew we had doubled what we had done the previous year and Wayne and I couldn't be more proud of our girl.
Stick around for many more years of The Hailey Project and if you have donated to her cause THANK YOU from the bottom of our heart!!!!
