Dear Hailey, you are starting daycare a/k/a "school" next week. I am freaking out a little although I know you desperately NEED it and WILL love it.

Dear Husband, I can't believe we have an almost 15 month old and we are putting her in daycare next week. Where is the time going?

Dear Weekend, I am so glad you are here. Time with the Hubs and friends tonight and a cousin's bachelorette party tomorrow night followed by recovery on Sunday.

Dear Body, Please be easy on me this weekend. I'm not a youngster anymore.

Dear Parents, thank you so much for taking Hailey with you this weekend so that the previous mentioned festivities can happen. I appreciate it more than you know.

Dear Mother Nature, although I love the cooler weather and the wardrobe it brings, I am not ready for winter and snow. AT. ALL.

Dear House, can't you clean yourself?

Dear Fall TV, I'm so excited for the next couple of weeks for all my shows to start!!! Yay!

Dear Britney, you know I have undying love for you and you are THE ONLY reason I am watching XFactor, but why do you seem so awkward?

Photobucket

Dear Picture Editing, I know people are getting impatient, but I'm going as fast as I can.

Dear Vikings, you are undefeated this season so far (haha), please keep it up.

Dear Husband, I am looking forward to our date night tonight. Wink!

Show and Tell: Baby Talk

Show and Tell: Baby Talk

Going to link up with Becky at From Mrs to Mama for:

1. Tell us your favorite baby names? Aside from your own babies, if you have some :)

We knew we always wanted Hailey Jo as a girl name. No questions about it. We just really liked the name Hailey and Jo is my Mom's middle name and we think the two fit together perfect.

Then for a boy name we thought we had Joseph Todd all picked out. Joseph is my Grandpa's middle name and Todd is my Hub's Dad's name who died when he was 12. I like names that can be shortened or have nick names so I was totally loving the 2 together with all the different possibilites. I also like having at least 1 of the names come from somewhere meaningful.

Then when we actually got pregnant and decided we weren't thrilled with our boy name, we started over. We decided on Carter James. Carter because we love it and James because it was my Hub's Great Uncles' middle name. So there you have it.

I do like William for another boy name. And I like Eva or Ava for a girl name. It has to go good with Hailey, but I wouldn't want it to be anything too similar either.

2. Show me your "dream" nursery {can be your baby's nursery or one that you love}

While it's not necessarily my "dream" nursery, it is perfect for us and fits our needs. See Hailey's Bedroom HERE.

A couple girl rooms I like:

And for a boy:

3. How many children would you like to have? How far apart?

I am 1 of 4. Hubs is 1 of 2. We definitely want at least 2. I always wanted 4, but now that I have 1 and she is a lot of work sometimes, I'm thinking we will go for 2 and then decide from there. Hubs is set on 2. He doesn't think we should outnumber ourselves. I think it will also depend on if baby #2 is a boy or girl.

I want to wait until Hailey is at least 2 or 2 1/2 years old before even trying. I don't want her to grow up too fast and be worrying about another pregnancy. I also want to enjoy her and see all her FIRSTS. I also want her to be able to be a good big sister and help us when she can with her little brother or sister. I think it's important to make them feel as involved as possible. If Hubs had it is his way, we would have started on #2 awhile ago.Ha!

4. Tell us what you think the importance of parenting is?

What a loaded question. I think there are so many important things about being a parent and not one specific right answer. I think most of it depends on your values and how you were raised. You either want to do some of the same things as your parents did or you want to do some things differently. I think for us a few that stick out are:

Being a good role-model and setting a good example. As not only a mother and father, but Husband and Wife.
Not just teaching values with words, but practicing them, too.
Being affectionate. Showing and telling them. Saying I love you and giving hugs and kisses.
Letting them explore and be their own person, but also set boundaries and rules.

5. Show us your favorite newborn photo {can be your children or random}

I posted a few of my favorites from Hailey's newborn photoshoot HERE.

6. Tell us some things you promise to never do as a parent {and if you are a parent, did you stick to it}.

I can only think of a couple.

I always thought onesies were not an appropriate outfit. Now that I have my own, that's all she wore this summer. Everywhere. All the time. They are just so easy.

I always thought my kid would wear shoes all the time, even if they didn't need to. Nope. We went (and sometimes still) go places shoe-less. Hailey wasn't a fan of shoes up until the last month or so. Good thing, because winter is on it's way and she won't have a choice.

So instead of doing the whole week long vacation in one blog post,
I decided to break it up and do a couple days at a time.

Preface:
Wayne's Aunt Dana, Uncle Jason and their two boys, Logan and Jackson, live on Long Island in a small town called Point Lookout. It's BEAUTIFUL. They moved there a couple years ago from Florida, so it was not only our first time out there to visit them at their new house and in their new city, but it was our first time in New York. Wayne's Green Grandma was also there for the week, as well as his brother Andy. We really had a great week and did lots of fun things. It was our first family vacation as the three of us AND Wayne's first vacation since our honeymoon back in 2007. Let's just say it was a much anticipated trip. Hailey also turned 1 years old while we were there!

Andy left this morning. It was fun to experience some of New York with him and I'm so glad he was with us on Hailey's 1st birthday.

After Dana dropped Andy off at the airport that morning we hung out for awhile and then walked to the local park that is just right down the street from their house. It was very warm outside, but we had to get out for at least a little bit. Jackson wanted to help with Hailey and so we swung, went down the slides and climbed on the equipment.

Photobucket

Love my adventurous little lady. She really has no fear.

Photobucket

Later that day we headed off to our tattoo appointment with KT at Lone Wolf Tattoo. We had talked to Dana before our trip and told her while we were there that we wanted to each get a tattoo. We had both been wanting one for a long time and were going to get them while we were in LA in May, but ran out of time. We thought New York would be the perfect time to get them done. Dana asked around and found a place that her sister-in-law had gotten her tattoo at. It was perfect.

Photobucket

Wayne went first.

Photobucket

He got 'Hailey' tattooed on the inside of his left wrist.

Photobucket

He made it look so easy. I was not in the most comfortable position.

Photobucket

My many faces of pain (as I call them) and me squeezing onto him tight. Wayne didn't have any qualms about documenting my pain. Can you see him in the background smiling and laughing at me?

Photobucket

Finished product.

Photobucket

Oh what an experience. I have great respect for people that get anything more than I got.

Today we decided to take a drive to Southhampton. We had lunch at a local sandwich shop. Delicious. After lunch we walked around and looked in the shops and after finding out we couldn't afford ANYTHING, we stopped at the candy shop, grabbed a few snacks and then headed home.

Photobucket

It was a fun, but long day.

Of course Floyd was there throughout the whole week. I know the Monti Family is not complete without mentioning Floyd.

Photobucket

What a handsome boy. Love him!

It was time to go home. Dana dropped us off at the airport in the morning and we had a good flight home. We didn't have an extra seat on the way back, so it was a little cramped, but we made it.

Photobucket

Hailey was so excited to be back in Minnesota!

My Mom came and picked us up from the airport and we headed home. It was a great, but exhausting week. We enjoyed every minute and made some great memories and spent quality time with loved ones. We had such great hosts. Thank you to The Monti Family for welcoming us into your home and letting us stay with you. We love you all so much!

We were having Hailey's 1st birthday party a/k/a her Puppy Party on Sunday and this Mama had so much to do before then.

Stay tuned for the details of her Puppy Party!

Jackson loved feeding Hailey her bottle.
He was such a big help with her the whole time we were there.
Of course, he asked lots of questions and was very inquisitive as a 5 year old should be.

Photobucket

It rained for most of the day, so we decided to check out the local mall. It actually reminded me of the Mall of America. We shopped, ate lunch in the food court and checked out the Disney store with Hailey.

Photobucket

Later that evening the boys (Wayne, Andy & Jason) went to Yankee Stadium for a baseball game.

Photobucket

While they were at the game and after the kids were in bed, us girls (Me, Dana and Green Grandma) watched the Bachelorette, talked, laughed and of course drank lots of wine.

Today was Hailey's 1st birthday!!!

For Hailey's birthday we all went to a Petting Zoo. We fed the goats, saw the animals, rode a train, ate lunch and watched a singing chicken show.

Photobucket

She's so uninterested in the camera. Too much to look at and do.

Photobucket

Once we got back to the house, Hailey took a nap with her Daddy, before birthday festivities started.
They actually took a nap like this everyday of our vacation. So precious.

Photobucket

Then it was time to celebrate! Green Grandma got her this outfit. Tutu and all. And Auntie Dana made tacos for dinner.

Photobucket

And then everyone sang Happy Birthday with an ice cream cake! Dana also got Hailey cupcakes so she could smash. She loved them. Andy tried to eat some and she is looking at him like he is CRAZY! Too funny!

 Photobucket

Thanks Dana and everyone else for making Hailey's birthday so special!!

Photobucket

We love you Hailey Jo! Happy 1st Birthday!

Our plane left early in the morning. Like "get up at 5am when your 1 year old likes to sleep in" early. But (deep breath) we made it to the airport and through security on time with no roadblocks. Thanks to my Mom for also getting up early and dropping us off at the door.

Overall our plane ride there went great (other than the poop blowout Hailey had all over my jeans as we landed. Ugh. So gross.) We were in the very last row, right by the bathrooms. That actually wasn't the worst, because all the people waiting for the toilet kept her very entertained the whole plane ride. Yay! We didn't buy Hailey her own seat, but was fortunate to have an empty seat in our row. That worked out great. She played on the floor, she played in her seat, she looked out the window, she ate her cheddar penquins, she smiled at everyone. Overall it was a better experience than what I expected.

Photobucket

Dana picked us up from the airport.
Hailey riding in her seat checking out New York on the way to the Monti House.

Photobucket

We got to the house, settled in and said Hi to everyone.

Photobucket

Hailey making herself right at home.

Photobucket

We decided to go to the beach for a couple hours. It's literally a 5 minute walk from their house.

Photobucket

It was Hailey's first trip to the ocean and let's just say she wasn't a fan. I think because it was loud and the water was very cold, she just wasn't having any of it.

Photobucket

They live in the smallest, but cutest community.  It's some-what of a private community. You have to have a certain pass to get onto the beach and the park, etc.

Photobucket

There are several restaurants in walking distance from their house, right across the street on one side is a drug store, across the street on the other side is a liquor store and two doors down is an ice cream shop. Could it get any better?

Photobucket

We had the local pizza for dinner and ended up hanging out for the night. We were exhausted from traveling and the beach.

Sunday, June 24, 2012

We were going to head to the Central Park Zoo, but it ended up being ridiculously hot outside, so we opted to go to the beach instead. Day 2 at the beach was a little better. Hailey still wasn't a fan of the actual ocean, but she did take a nap under the umbrella and played in the sand.

Photobucket

That night we headed into the city. Gramma stayed with the kids so us adults could go explore. We took a train to Penn Station and then went from there. Thank god for Jason, because I would have gotten so lost.

Photobucket

We walked around the 9/11 Memorial site. It was eerily quiet, but a very powerful time still. This wall memorial was very cool to see.

Photobucket

We didn't get to go in and see the fountains or anything because it was closed. It was a Sunday night and we got there after it closed. It was still very cool to walk around in that area and to think about all those buildings being covered in soot and those were the very streets that people were running down when it all happened. So crazy to be there and think about that.

Photobucket

We ate at this great little Irish Pub, which was delicious. We then did some shopping at Forever 21, the Disney Store and the M&M store in Times Square. I also got to see the Naked Cowboy on my very first trip.

Photobucket

Times Square was so busy, so I'm not sure I ever really need to go back there specifically, but I do want to take Hailey to the 9/11 Memorial someday as well as the Zoo.

This concludes Days 1 & 2 of our New York Family Vacation 2012.
