I received this cute poem in my babycenter.com email yesterday.
 (along with every other mom-to-be)

It made me smile.

Our Valentine's Day was low key. I have really wanted to go to The Melting Pot for awhile to try it out and so we will be going there for our "Valentine's Day Dinner." When that will be, I don't know exactly, but in the interim Wayne picked up a couple of heart shaped pizzas from Broadway Pizza - Robbinsdale.



Robbinsdale is the only location we go to or pick-up from since it's family owned. It was delicious as always.

I got Wayne a card and this:



Of course he made the joke, "Well, this isn't going to fit." Hardy har har.

He got me a card and these:



Now if you look at the bouquet you will only find 9 roses...why not a full dozen you ask? Well he put something cute in my card that for every white rose that turns red, we are another month closer to growing our family. There are 9 roses...5 are red symbolizing that we are 5 months pregnant with 4 white ones (a little over 4 months to go).

I thought that was so sweet and creative and super special. What a great Daddy he will be.

Yesterday I was 19 weeks and it has been the first time that I actually feel pregnant...I mean belly wise. Up until this point I have just felt chubby, but today I actually feel like I have a pregnant belly. I can't believe we are almost at the half way point. It's going faster than I expected.

I haven't had too many cravings thus far and it has been actually burdensome to find something that is actually appealing to eat, but I think it is getting better and better week by week. These are the things that I have been the most consistent thus far:

BREAKFAST

I usually get a cinnamon sugar bagel with plain cream cheese.

Orange Juice...pretty much any kind or brand will do. For a few weeks I changed to apple juice (couldn't get enough of it and I don't even care for apple juice), but now it seems I am back to OJ.

DINNER:

I find myself wanting this almost every night for dinner:

1 slice of cheese pizza...I haven't found meat very appealing thus far unless it is slathered in some sort of sauce to drowned out the meat flavor.

And as you are supposed to have 6 small meals per day, then I find myself snacking in the meantime on other various things such as popcorn, chips, granola bars, etc.

TREATS

McDonalds shakes...specifically vanilla.

MMMmmmm...

DQ ice cream...specifically an oreo or snickers blizzard or a peanut buster parfait.

I usually eat a pickle a day. I think it is a vinegar thing because sometimes I crave french fries and ketchup. I only like a certain kind:

Sometimes in the middle of the night I wake up and have a popscicle:

Some of these are cliche...pickles and ice cream, but I don't care. I'm eating what I want and still trying to sneak in those fruits/veggies. I think I'm doing good so far. Almost half way there.

Well, we had our Dr. appointment on Monday, January 31st with Nancy Decker. Dr Emery is on medical leave as she is struggling with some personal medical issues. Not sure the status yet and it makes me nervous, but we will see how next time goes.

This is the second time in a row that we have met with Nancy instead of Dr. E. I'm really ok with that becuase I LOVE Nancy and I think Wayne does, too, which is terrific.But if this is going to be a regular thing than we might just decide to switch Drs now. I've also heard great things about Dr. Minke, so we will see what this next appointment brings.

We also scheduled our next appointment for February 28th (21 weeks), which will be the Ultrasound appointment where we find out the SEX! Hopefully, keep fingers crossed that baby cooperates with that.

My MIL, Kim, her boyfriend, Paul and my BIL, Andy came to Green Grandma's house for the day. Here is everyone in the living room post dinner/pre presents. We were all in a food coma from eating so much.

It was one of the first times thus far where it really hit me, that this is real and happening. I know that there will be many more times like these, but it was a very profound feeling.

I met Wayne at my parents in the afternoon after he got done with work. After we at dinner and opened gifts, we started a heated game of dominoes.

There were many laughs and inside jokes made. I was so proud of my Dad. He got these on his own:

We spent the night and got up that next morning and went to get the baby furniture that I blogged about HERE. Overall it was a wonderful Christmas!!

We got together with Wayne's other part of his family that couldn't make it on Christmas Eve. I made spaghetti, we opened gifts and then hung out and chatted.

But this year was different as I can't have any for obvious reasons and although sometimes I really crave a glass of wine and it irritates me, I'm OK with that because I know what I am going through and the things I am giving up do not compare to the moment(s) of being a MOM.

I’ve actually felt pretty good this past week. Some days are better than others obviously. My appetite has not come back any, so it’s still a struggle to figure out what I’m hungry for. ANNOYING!

I'm looking forward to our Dr appointment on Monday evening. Yay! At that point we will schedule our next appointment (4 weeks out/end of February or early March), which will be the Ultrasound appointment where we find out the SEX! Hopefully, keep fingers crossed that baby cooperates with that.

I bought a belly band and a couple of new bras today. Much needed stuff. I can’t wait to try out the belly band.

I also cleaned a lot today and I think I over-did it. By the end of the night I was sore and super tired.

Happy New Years Eve. Wayne was at one of his appearances and being is that I can't drink OR stay awake too late, I decided to stay home. I actually ended up falling asleep at about 8:30pm. I woke up at about 1:30am and talked to Wayne on the phone for awhile. He spent the night at his Mom's instead of coming all the way home. He has been doing that almost every Friday night as he works so late and yet has to be back at the station early the next morning.

We had our Dr appointment this morning. It went so good. We met with Nancy Decker and went over my "status." We also got to hear the heartbeat. It was magical.

Welcome to the blissful second trimester, widely recognized as pregnancy's most comfortable and enjoyable. (Yes, it's a relative distinction.) Don't panic if you start noticing some lovely vaginal discharge. It's called leucorrhea and is totally normal. Though it might mess up your panties, it's essential in protecting your birth canal from infection.

This is me & Lil D this week:

 

I am super excited for Christmas this weekend. I have Friday thru Sunday off and it will be a great time spent with family and friends. 

What I'm looking forward to: We are scheduled to go to the Dr on Wednesday. We are super anxious now that I am 12 weeks and on my way out of the 1st Trimester. I just want to hear the heartbeat and know he or she is still moving and growing.

I'm also looking forward to the opportunity to get some really cute baby furniture. Through Green Grandma there is a woman that moved from the apartment complex into a fully furnished townhome. To our luck, there happened to be a full baby's room and she doesn't need ANY of it. At this point I am waiting to hear back from her.

I finally heard back from the lady about the furniture and Wayne and I went to look at. It's all great stuff and she wants minimal for it, so we are picking it up on Sunday.

We went and picked up the furniture. A BIG THANK YOU to my Dad for the use of his trailer and helping that day. This is what we got.

We got all this "stuff" for $200.00. It was such a good deal we couldn't pass it up. Wayne thinks the crib is on the cheaper side, but we'll see once we get it together, and if anything else we can use it one of the Grandma's houses. LOL. I'm not sure what brand anything is. She asked the seller of the townhome, but it ranged anywhere from Target to Pottery Barn.

So the clinic called this afternoon at about 4pm and said Dr. E is sick tomorrow. Our appointment is supposed to be tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon. Now it is rescheduled to Monday, January 3rd as Dr. E is out until January 6th and we have to see someone else. I am a lot more understanding about this stuff. I know it is going to happen over the course of the pregnancy. Luckily, Nancy Decker, who is a mid-wife and who I have met with before is available. Wayne on the other hand is super mad. He was so looking forward to hearing the heartbeat.
