Weekend Highlights: Hoppy Easter 2012

 Friday, April 6, 2012

I left work and met Wayne at home. We had plans to take Hailey to the mall to see the Easter Bunny. I was nervous we would have to stand in a long line with waiting until the Friday before Easter, but we didn't at all. We got right in, sat her down, she smiled a big one, the photographer snapped and then away we were. She did so great and gave THE biggest smile with no tears or sign of fear one bit.

Next year might be a different story.

From the mall Wayne went home because he had to get ready to head out for the night. I went to my parents house for the first bonfire of the year.

I ended up staying way too late. I got home and got to bed way past my bedtime. I think it was 11pm. Isn't that sad? Ugh. I'm getting old.

Today was rainy, dark and gloomy. I took Hailey to the gym. I walked on the treadmill for a bit and read my book. Not really sure if you can call that working out, but I went. Hailey played in the Kids Stuff area with the other little ones. The rest of the day we spent some quality time just the two of us. Wayne brought home a Crunchy Roll from Crave for me for dinner. It was gone in minutes and was so yummy.

I wanted to get a movie or two watched that evening, but was still so drained from the night before that I ended up reading for a bit and then falling asleep early.

Super boring Saturday if I don't say so myself.

Easter Sunday! We got up, Wayne did his yoga while I tended to H. We got ready and I did some things around the house before heading over to his Mom's house for Easter lunch. We ended up not eating until about 2:30pm. She made all the fixings and it was all so yummy. We skyped with Grams and wished her a Happy Easter.

She loved her Easter Basket.

I thought this printable that I found online says everything about Easter, but while I'm not a fan of peeps or jelly beans, I am a fan of chocolate. That's about all the Easter candy I care about and I can get that year round whenever I like. We didn't color any eggs this year, nor did we do an egg hunt, but we plan to go all out next year definitely.

I love this poem that I found online:

Easter Joy

Jesus came to earth,
To show us how to live,
How to put others first,
How to love and how to give.

Then He set about His work,
That God sent Him to do;
He took our punishment on Himself;
He made us clean and new.

He could have saved Himself,
Calling angels from above,
But He chose to pay our price for sin;
He paid it out of love.

Our Lord died on Good Friday,
But the cross did not destroy
His resurrection on Easter morn
That fills our hearts with joy.

Now we know our earthly death,
Like His, is just a rest.
We'll be forever with Him
In heaven, where life is best.

So we live our lives for Jesus,
Think of Him in all we do.
Thank you Savior; Thank you Lord.
Help us love like you!

I think it's so simple, but tells the story so nicely.

I hope all my family and friends near and far had a great Easter!

We then headed over to my parents house for an Easter/birthday dinner. My birthday is the 9th, so we had a delish dinner, too. We hung-out for awhile and ate strawberry shortcake before heading home way too late on a Sunday evening.

Overall it was a great weekend once again. I was disappointed that I didn't get any movies watched that weekend, which is a bummer because I am so behind on movies. There are so many out that I haven't seen yet.

Just a few on my list at the moment that I have YET to see:

Moneyball
Hugo
The Artist
My Week with Marilyn
Warhorse
J. Edgar

That's just to name a few. Some of those Wayne wants to see, too, others he could care less about and I will find time to watch them on my own.

Have you seen any of the above? How did you like them? What others do you recommend? I need to keep this list going.
