March 2016 Wrap-Up

March 2016 Wrap-Up

I meant to post this awhile back, but alas, time got away from me and here we are in April already.

On Saturday the 19th, we met up with some friends for a night out to Pitbull AGAIN! I love my little man getting ready with me. He's just the cutest!

It was such a fun night and like I said on Insta, I will NEVER get sick of his music or seeing him live!

He seriously puts on SUCH a good show!

On Sunday, the 20th, we went to our local mall and had the typical Easter bunny picture with the kids. Griffin's first of course. Hailey's smile is SO cheesy, but there were NO tears!! Yay!

21st: This is my Hubby's progress thus far regarding his weight loss surgery. I plan on doing a more detailed post since he had the gastric sleeve surgery back in October. I haven't really blogged about it too much thus far, but I wanted to share this picture. Crazy, right?

22nd: I am so behind on pictures and getting pictures off my phone and organized. It's really bad. But what can I do other than try to catch up!

23rd: It was National Puppy Day! Yay!

26th: We did the Bubble Run. We did it as a family and were supposed to meet up with some friends, but we didn't leave the house on time and wouldn't you know it, with two kids, it's just not as easy these days. We had a lot of fun and Hailey especially was SO excited.

After we got home and got cleaned up, I went to the DMV to renew my license. It was about to expire on my birthday (4/9), so I HAD to get it done before then. So, I sucked it up and went and did it. Only 2.5 hours later was I done and I am also registered to vote. Ugh. I then went and promptly spent 1.5 hours at Target. #myhappyplace

27th: Easter!!! It was pretty low key. We were all so tired (exhausted Mama right here) from the day before. We originally wanted to go and check out an Easter buffet at one of the hotels. And while the hotel we picked didn't seem crazy busy, the buffet was. So, we opted to have more of a sit down meal. Which was fine, since my hubby can't really eat a whole lot at a buffet anyways. Also, sidenote: I didn't realize he has this business card from the Dr that says he has had stomach surgery and they are legally obligated to give him a kids meal or charge him for a kids meal.

We ended up at Hearthstone in the Red Rock Casino which is in Summerlin (a suburb of Las Vegas). It was also super low key (just our thing, especially with kids) and the food was absolutely delicious!

The best part was I didn't have to cook OR clean up. Hailey got to MAKE her own pizza and the chicken and waffles that I got were SO GOOD!!!! Later that afternoon I took a nice, much needed, nap with my baby boy. Later that night after both kids were sleeping, my Hubby and I watched The Walking Dead.

30th: Well the day started with a trip to the Vet. One of our pups, Moo Moo, has had a few seizures in the past few months and had a bad one the day before. So we decided it was time to take her in and get her looked at. We had a full blood work up done on her and she is perfect in every way. The Dr thinks it is a neurological thing as she is almost 10 years old and just starting them now with no major life changes. So, for now we will monitor her and see if we have to put her on meds at some point in the future.

Friday, was my sister, Amie's 17th Birthday. Our tradition is the birthday person gets to pick where we eat. She had never been to The Olive Garden, so that's where we went. I LOVE everything about it! The breadsticks, the salad, the soups, the pastas and even the deserts are fabulous!! It was a great dinner out with the family! And I will give you one guess as to what Hailey is watching on the iPad. #frozen

Saturday morning I went to the gym. By myself. I can't remember the last time I did that on a Saturday morning. It was nice not to have to rush Hailey to the daycare and make it to the my busy Zumba class. Also, it was actually sunny out, which was a big plus from the big snow storm the day before.

I had two birthday parties that night. We went out to dinner to Urban Eatery for Falen's 30th birthday. I had never been there before. The food and company was great as always! Happy Birthday Falen!

After dinner, I went with my parents to my 2nd Mom's birthday party. Shelly was turning 50 and she shares her birthday with her daughter, Allison, who was turning 25. If you were going to support Shelly you were supposed to wear gold and if you were there to support Allison you were supposed to wear silver. Well,  I don't have much gold and really I was going for both of them. This is what I came up with:

Skinnies, gold toed shoes, gold necklace with a black tee and my aztec sweater. I have known them basically my whole life and Shelly has always been there for me and my family through the years. It was a fun night of dancing, singing karaoke (not me, but fun to watch), and free booze/food. Can't beat that! Love you Shelly!

Since Gramma moved in with us last week, there have been a few boxes that I needed to unpack and put away. So I did some spring cleaning. There is lots more to be done, but I love it. When I get in a mood, watch out!

We went and visited a family friend that is dying of cancer and staying at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. It was a Sunday afternoon, so not very busy, but still so humbling at the same time. Everyone that saw Hailey was so nice and warm and friendly. It was like they had never seen a kid before. I forget that not everyone at the hospital is old. There was a young man in a wheelchair that was completely paralyzed and what seemed like his Mom had come to have lunch with him. All I kept thinking was that he had volunteered to serve our country and now he was completely paralyzed. He didn't look any older than me. I also saw a few other younger guys. It really reminds you of the sacrifices women and men make for our county and just because they are here in the United States and "home" doesn't mean they are OK or don't continue to have struggles. Whatever they may be. Just a quick reminder for everyone out there to pray for all who serve.

Later in the afternoon I sanded down this desk a bit and gave it one coat of paint. The desk came from Gramma's. She paid $55 for it from a consignment shop and so I swooped it up thinking right away of how I would re-do it. It's not huge, but will do the trick for now. Hopefully I will be able to finish it this week and share with you the after pics. I haven't had an "office" type area in this house and I am itching to have my own space to set-up. This will be a project in the works for a bit.

I topped off the weekend by watching the American Country Music Awards with Gramma and Hailey. I love me some BLUKE. If you don't know what that means then you are seriously missing out. Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan hosted again this year. I didn't watch it last year, as I wasn't much into country music then. This year is a completely different story. I couldn't get enough and turned up the music and sang along. Hailey, too! I loved that everyone was singing along with Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum to Wagon Wheel. I just really love that song.

Also, how hott did they look together?

Did anyone else watch it? What was your favorite performance?

It was my friend Katie's birthday on the 2nd, so we all decided to party it up together the night before. We met at Uptown Tavern and did dinner and drinks. A few of us played pool.

We walked down to Bar Abilene for a while and ended up at Bar Louie to end the night. It was great fun with some of my most favorite people.

Today was, our family friend,, Gina's graduation party. They have lived next to my parents since Gina was in diapers and I used to babysit Gina, too. It was so fun to see all her pictures and I was so honored when she asked me to take her Senior pictures as well.

I took the day off of work and headed with my sisters and Hailey out to the Mall of America for the Big Time Rush meet & greet & performance that they were doing. Of course, those guys are SO awesome and they always remember us and Hailey. They are just some of the best artists I have ever met. They are ALWAYS nice, polite, huggy and just really down to earth.

We celebrated Father's Day by eating lunch at Crave. The day before (on the 15th) while we were running errands, we went to Best Buy to get Wayne his Father's Day gift a/k/a an iPad Mini and guess what? We both ended up getting one. Haha!

Aren't they just the cutest!?

We had a horrible storm. There were branches/trees down and to make matters worse, the freaking power went out. Of course it had to go out while I was busy cleaning house, because why? Oh yea, Green Grandma was coming less than 2 days later. Ugh. Wayne was at work, so Hailey and I made the best of it that night. We did sleep at our house Friday night, but then headed to my parents house Saturday morning.

We headed out to St. Paul to celebrate Dave's Belated 60th Birthday. He is the Dad of our good friend, Adam. I've mentioned him on this little blog of mine before. He has been battling cancer for about a year and a half. We had a benefit for him last June. He definitely still has his ups and downs, but he's such a fighter and is hanging in there.
